March Artist – Shane Kenning

Come down to BBC GONG where this month we are featuring local artist “Shane Kenning”

A bunch of his work will fill the blank white walls that is the Captains Quarters Gallery, just upstairs over looking the restaurant.

Shane Kenning creates vibrant, comic inspired digital illustrations that play with character and colour, capturing the nostalgic soul of any young at heart cartoon loving nerd.
His illustrated works are a melting pot of dark themes with humorous undertones, drawn with a bright, playful pen and contrasting colour palette. His creations jump off their canvas, making his work eye catching for anyone who passes it.
Being a regional artist from Wollongong, NSW hasn’t stopped Shane getting his work out in the public’s eye. He has exhibited alongside many cream-of-the-crop illustrators including Ben Brown, Ken Taylor and DEB and his works have turned heads on gigposters.com – a mecca site for band posters.
Shane has worked closely with the music industry for the past decade with the majority of his creations ending up on posters, record sleeves and merchandise for bands and music festivals. Clients include BRUCE!, Hy-Fest, My Left Boot, Babymachine and Acid Monkeys.
Holding a Bachelor of Creative Arts, a Diploma in Fine Arts and completing a 3 year sign writing course, Shane has carved a career being a creative, working as an illustrator and a printer.
